Light Cavalry | and Adjutant of the 3rd Sikh Irregular Cavalry

O?M? | and grandson of HENRY HAMILTON of Ballymacoll of Meath
Esq. | born in Dublin on the 3rd Nov 18?? And died on 13? April
1858? | near Azimchur of wounds received in action on the day |
his remains were there interred in the English burial ground. |
he took a distinguished part in repressing the mutiny | which
broke out at Ferozepore on the 13th May 1857 and subsequently |
for several actions, among others at Hissar near Hansi in
September | where he was severely wounded, resuming active
service however in October | at ? Narnoul on 16th November
1857. At the siege of Lucknow in February | and March and at
the relief of Azimchur on the 13th April 1858 | where he fell
mortally wounded in a most gallant charge | against the
mutinous force under Koohr Singh. | Honest- hearted,
affectionate and brave, | he was highly esteemed by his
companions in arms, and tenderly beloved | by his parents and
family who bitterly mourn his loss.

B. I've divided the graveyard into four sections (see map).
The North- East and North-West sections are in good condition,
and I've taken photos of all the headstones. The South-East
section contains several fallen and broken headstones, and is
being tidied up (2015). The South- west section is largely
brambles with some headstones to be seen among the vegetation.

South East  & South West - Dunboyne graveyard

Headstones in the South section of the Graveyard. Some poor
quality photos here - I hope to take better ones at some
stage. Some of the transcriptions are directly from the
headstones.

The headstones start at the east end of SE section, moving
roughly (very roughly!) westwards.

The SW corner of the graveyard is a mass of brambles - there
may be 5, 10, 20, or more, hidden  headstones here.
