Obit: Drury, Patrick July 19, 1913 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Roscommon Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Marcena Thompson marcenath@aol.com February 5, 2010, 12:20 pm DRURY, PATRICK JULY 19, 1913 The Daily News 21 July 1913 Patrick Drury His Death at West Bergen at the Age of Eight-one Years West Bergen, July 21, 1913, Patrick Drury died at 7:20 o'clock on Saturday evening from infirmities of age at his home at West Bergen. He had been confined to his bed three weeks, but was conscious almost to the last, bidding his relatives farewell only 20 minutes before the end came. Mr. Drury was born in Roscommon, Ireland, in January, 1832, and he and his family move to America and located where he died. In April, 1866 when he began working for the New York Central railroad as track walker, patrolling the track as far as Bergen twice daily. Later he worked on the section and for many years was a lampman. He was placed on the pension list after working 43 years for the railroad. Mr. Drury was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church at Bergen. He was a sincere Christian and was highly respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife; a son, Michael F. Drury of Buffalo; a daughter, Mrs. James Whalen of Batavia, and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Garraghan of Churchville, Mrs. Jacob Webber of Kansas City MO., and Mrs. Eliza McDermott of Ireland. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from his late home and at 10 o'clock from St. Bridget's church at Bergen, Father McGinn officiating. The interment will be in the Bergen cemetery. Additional Comments: Ellen Drury was born in County Roscommon, this comes from the 1870 census Town of Bergen, Geneese County, New York.
