Obit: Grannan, Anna January 26, 1917 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Roscommon Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosemary Nunnally rosemarykn@comcast.net January 2, 2011, 7:12 pm GRANNAN, ANNA JANUARY 26, 1917 The Bourbon News, Paris, KY 26 Jan. 1917 The funeral of Mrs. Anna Grannan, aged 85, who died at her residence on Main Street, in this city, after a short illness of pneumonia, will be held at the Church of the Annunciation this Friday morning. Mrs. Grannan was the widow of Mr. Joseph Gannon, who was a well known resident of Paris. Mr. Grannan preceded his wife to the grave in February, 1897. Mrs. Grannan was a native of County Roscommon, Ireland, where she was born on October 19, 1832. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Walsh, and emigrated from the old country to America in the early days. She was married to Mr. Grannan in Maysville, coming to Paris in 1860. Mrs. Grannan was a woman of remarkable mentality and one of her chief pleasures in her later days was to have friends call and tell her of the important news happenings of the day, both at home and abroad. She is survived by the following children: William Grannan, Miss Elizabeth Grannan both of Paris, Miss Mary Grannan and Mr. Edward Grannan both of Cincinnati, and Mr. Joseph Grannan, of Kansas City, Mo., all of whom were at her bedside when the end came.
