News: Attack on a Dwelling, Nenagh Guardian 1849 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Tipperary Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Mary Heaphy ATTACK ON A DWELLING, NENAGH GUARDIAN 18-12-1849 On the night of the 13th instant, a party of six men came to the house of land bailiff, Michael Lacey, Bushfield, Carrigatoher. They demanded admittance, but having been refused it, one of the party fired a shot through the kitchen window while the others broke open the door and rushed into the bedroom of Lacey, who when he heard the party at first, got out of bed and made his escape, in a state of nudity through the thatched roof of the house, before the ruffians entered. When they found the object of their vengeance had fled, and was not within their murderous grasp, the commenced on the crockery ware in the house, and broke all the plates and dishes.
