North Riding Of The County Tipperary, Starting The 11th 
August 1854 And Ending 19th Feb. 1855.

1854 1. Aug 11th. on Michael Ryan, at Kilcommon, 
Kilnemanagh, No Doctor. Verdict-Suffocation while in a fit 
of epilepsy. Reported by Constable P. Clancy.

2. Aug. 12th. on James Meagher, at Roscrea, Ikerrin, J.A. 
Powell, Simple examination. Verdict-Fall of a house. 
Reported by P. Morgan Esq. S.I.

3. Aug 28th on Margaret Ryan, at Goolds-Cross, Clonoulty, 
Kilnemanagh. Wm. Clarke. Simple Examination. Accidental 
death by a lurry rolling over her. Reported by 
Head-Constable Shanahan.

4. Sept. 4th. on Patrick Horan, at Clonoulty, Kilnemanagh, 
Wm. Clarke. Simple examination. Verdict-Rupture of a blood 
vessel. Reported by Head-Constable J. Bergin.

5. Sept 10th. on Martin Guilfoyle, at Templemore, Eliogarty, 
R.M.Forsayth. Simple examination. Verdict-Accidental death 
from blow of a knife. Reported by Head-Constable George 
Patterson.

6. Sept. 13th on Thomas Dwyer, at Toom, Kilnemanagh. J. 
Dwyer. Simple examination. Verdict-Wilful murder by Thomas 
Dwyer. Reported by William Saville Esq. S.I.

7. October 12th on Catherine Doyle, at Roskeen, Moyaliff, 
Kilnemanagh. J.P. Quinlan. Simple examination. 
Verdict-Accidental death by burning. Reported by Head 
Constable John Kiely.

8. Oct. 20th. on Mathew Canavan, at the Commons, 
Ballingarry, Slievardagh. C. Bagot, Simple examination. 
Verdict-Accidental drowning. Reported by Constable Francis

from disease of the heart, accelerated by spirits. Reported

14. Jan 13th. on Johhn Maguire, at Killahagan, Drom, 
Eliogarty, J.P.Quinlan, Simple examination. 
Verdict-Accidental death from the upsetting of a car. 
Reported by Constable William Mill.

15. Jan. 23rd. on Eliza Shaw, at Ballytarsna, Ballysheehan, 
Kilnemanagh. George Bradshaw, Simple examination. 
Verdict-Died from the rupture of the heart. Reported by 
George McCullagh.

16. Jan 24th. on Edward Phelan, at Roscrea, Ikerrin, 
J.A.Powell, Simple examination. Verdict-Died from natural 
causes. Reported by P. Morgan. S.I.

17. Jan. 30th on Mary Corcoran, at Roscrea, Ikerrin. 
J.A.Powell, Simple examination. Verdict-Died from disease of 
the heart. Reported by P. Morgan. S.I.

18. Feb. 1st on Thomas Carroll, Derricknew, Upperchurch, 
Kilnemanagh. J.P.Quinlan. Simple examination. Verdict-Died 
from exposure to cold. Reported by Constable John Kiely.

19. Feb 7th. on Thomas Burke, at Tinvoher, Loughmore. 
Eliogarty. J.P.Quinlan. Simple examination. Verdict-Died 
from disease of the heart accelerated by ardent spirits. 
Reported by Constable John Loughnane.

A return of inquisitions held by T.T. Abbott, Coroner for 
the North Riding of Tipperary starting 11th July 1854 and 
ending 26th Feb. 1855. All of the following were reported by 
the constabulary, no names given.

1. July 22nd 1854. on John Ryan, at Scrag, Kilmastulla. 
George Frith, surgeon, simple examination. Verdict-Died from 
disease of the heart, injury on his head produced by the 
fall when dying.

2. July 31st. on Judith Ryan, at Aglish, Parish of Aglish. 
M.McGarvey, simple examination. Verdict-Found 
drowned-supposed to have been accidental.

3. Aug. 2nd. on John Dooley, at Dramnahane, Uskane. 
M.McGarvey, simple examination. Verdict-Found dead in a 
field, caused by the rupture of a blood vessel.

4. Aug. 12th. on Denis Moloney, at Nenagh, Parish of Nenagh, 
O'Neill Quinn, post mortem examination. Verdict-Wilful 
murder against several persons.

5. Aug. 29th on Denis Connors, at Nenagh, Parish of Nenagh. 
George Frith, simple examination. Verdict-Died from injuries 
inflicted on himself with a razor.

6. Sept. 20th on Thomas Guilfoyle, of Nenagh, Parish of 
Nenagh, George Frith, simple examination. Verdict-Died from 
injuries received by a fall from a car.

7. Sept. 27th. on James Quinn. at Nenagh Gaol, Parish of 
Nenagh, O'Neill Quinn. Simple examination. Verdict-Died from 
a fit of apoplexy.

8. Nov. 2nd. on Stephen Treacy, at Nenagh, Parish of Nenagh. 
George Frith. Simple examination. Verdict-Died suddenly on 
the street at Nenagh from disease of the heart.

9. Nov. 8th, on Anne Foley, at Galcross, Borrisokane. 
M.McGarvey, simple examination. Verdict-Died from injuries 
rec. by her clothes taking fire.

10. Nov. 15th on Honoria Kennedy, at Drowm, Castletown. John 
Nihill, simple examination. Verdict-Died from accidentally 
falling into scalding water.

11. Dec.2nd. on Samuel Hodgens, at Cloughjordan, Modreeny, 
Arthur Walsh, simple examination. Verdict-Found dead in the 
garden from disease of the heart.

12. Dec. 27th, on Edmond Hogan at Garrykennedy, Castletown. 
George Frith, simple examination. Verdict-Accidentally 
drowned in the river Shannon.

13. Dec. 28th. on Patrick Hoctor, at Clonmona, Parish of 
Durrow. T.H.Baker, Post Mortem examination. Verdict-Wilful 
murder against Smith and others unknown.

14. Jan. 5th. 1855 on Martin Manix, at Portland, Lorrha. 
John Levey, simple examination. Verdict-Found dead in the 
cabin of a boat on the river Shannon from suffocation.

15.Jan 6th. on Thomas Kenny, at Shallee, Killoscully. 
Patrick Arthur, simple examination. Verdict-Killed by 
leaving down a shaft in the mine works.

16. Jan. 11th. on John Hanly, at Cragg, Kilcomenty, Langer 
Carey, M.B. simple examination. Verdict-Died from the 
effects of a dose of preperation of foxglove.

17. Jan 15th. on Jeremiah Quigley, at Ballyranglan, 
Castletown, George Frith, simple examination. Verdict-died 
from injuries received when his clothes caught fire.

18. Jan 20th on Thomas Sweeney, at Kylebeg, Ballynaclough, 
George Frith, Simple examination. Verdict-found drowned in 
the river at Ballyvandron.

19. Jan. 22nd. on a female infant, at Garrykennedy, 
Castletown. Geroge Frith. Post Mortem. Verdict-Died after 
birth without any marks of violence.

20. Feb. 7th on Patrick Carroll, at Nenagh, Parish of 
Nenagh, Edward Kitson, simple examination. Verdict-Found 
dead in his bed, supposed from gout in his stomach.

21. Feb 17th on James Hobbs, at Rathmore, Borrisokane, M. 
McGarvey, Simple examination. Verdict-Found in a yard in a 
senseless state, died same evening.

22. Feb. 20th on Honoria McGlinn at Nenagh Gaol, Parish of 
Nenagh, George Frith, simple examination. Verdict-Died in 
the prison infirmary from chest dropsy.

23. Feb. 24th. on Cameron Enos Quilter, at Bellisle, 
Terryglass. M. McGarvey, simple examination. 
Verdict-Accidentally drowned by skating on the river 
Shannon. .

24. Feb. 24th on John Lyons, at Nenagh, Parish of Nenagh, 
George Frith, simple examination. Verdict-Found dead on a 
lime kiln.

25. Feb. 25th. on a male, name unknown, at Knockane, 
Templedowney. F. Cahalan, surgeon, simple examination. 
Verdict-Died from exhaustion and destitution.
