Will: Ryan, John March 4, 1823 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Tipperary Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosalind Dunning ros.dunning@outlook.com March 17, 2018, 9:38 am RYAN, JOHN MARCH 4, 1823 Source: National Archives Kew England Written: March 4, 1823 Recorded: March 17, 2018 In the Name of God Amen I John Ryan Purser of the Royal Navy being of sound mind and understanding tho' infirm of health do hereby make & constitute this my last Will and Testament revoking all such Wills and Testaments heretofore made by me earnestly recommending my Soul to God first then I do hereby give and bequeath paying all my lawful debts first all my Property Real and Personal unto my beloved Wife Margaret Ryan and the Rever'd E Condon the same to be held in safe & secure trust for my Children namely Margaret Michael & John Ryan secondly I wish eight hundred and seventy pounds which I have laying by me together with such sums of money or monies as may be coming due to me on account of my services in His Majesty's Royal Navy to be placed in the funds reserving what may be necessary for my funeral expences also a Sum as set down in a letter to my beloved Wife to be given in charitable Donations as therein set forth the interest of aforesaid money to be uplifted by my beloved Wife for her support and the support and education of my Children should it be the will of Providence that my Children should die before they become of age and without lawful issue and after the death of my beloved Wife the aforesaid Margaret Ryan I will and bequeath the reversion of all such properties to my brother Mr Richard Ryan and to my sister Mary Ryan alias Lyndon share and share alike reserving one hundred pounds of it to be disposed of as my Executors may then think fit finally I do appoint my beloved Wife and the Rever'd E Condon Executors of this my last Will Given under my hand this 4th day of March 1823 John Ryan - John Power _ Patrick McGrath Should it be the Will of the Great God in his Almighty mercy to call me away from the World before I have an opportunity of paying the following sums in charity relieving the distressed & poor housekeepers etc. I earnestly request and am confident that my beloved Wife will discharge the obligation as early as possible after my death To the Cahir Chapple for repairing it or as Father Power thinks best £6.0.0 To some poor Room Keeper £2.0.0. To relieve the distressed Housekeepers in Cahir £30.0.0. To be paid in Charity £20.0.0. To be given to Father Power for adorning the Chapel £6.0.0. To be given in Charity were most wanted to Poor housekeepers etc. £20.0.0 To be given to Father Power for adorning the Altar particularly the representation of the Holy Virgin Mary £10.0.0. To be given in Charity searching for those most in need £20.0.0. To be paid in Charity where most wanted £10.0.0. To relieve the distressed searching for those who most want it £16.0.0.
