Gen. in Ireland 1865-764 married February 1866 Alicia eldest daughter of Ralph Smyth Esqr. of Drumcree, whose name he assumed. Commanded Military District | Devonport 1877 Lieut-Genl. This monument | is erected by his children | as a small but just tribute | of their affection. Also to the memory of his eldest | son Ralh Smyth Esqr likewise | of Barbavilla who departed | this life on the 24th January 1814 in the 29th year | of his age. Drumcree Church Plate Silver chalice inscribed : The gift of Thomas Smyth Esqr to the Parish of Kilcumney, 1772 Silver paten inscribed : The gift of Thomas Smyth Esqr to the Parish of Kilcumney, 1772 There is a Memorial Window, having as its subject Christ suffering little children to come unto Him, in north wall of church, underneath brass plate, inscribed : To the glory of God and in memory of Elizabeth | Panette Smyth who died | September 27th 1877. The old Church of Kilcumney, now in ruins, contains the following monuments : Drumcree Family Vault Like as a father | pitieth his children the Lord pitieth them | that fear him.
