Memorials *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Wexford Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: C. Hunt & Jacquie Liddiard Lady's Island. [From Lord Walter Fitzgerald.] This island, in an inlet of the sea in South County Wexford, is joined to the mainland by a togher or causeway, guarded by a now leaning tower at the island end of it, behind which is a square castle, and behind that again the churchyard dedicated to the On a flat slab, much sunk in the ground, the inscription on which faces the west:- + I H S Here Lieth the Body of The Revd Andrew Mc Cormack Depd 31st May 1781 Aged 58 years May the Lord have mercy on his Soul. Amen The World is A jest, as all things Shew it; I thought so once, But Now I know it. The peculiar verse in this inscription also appears on the Cony table tomb in the Rathduff Churchyard, Co. Westmeath, given in this number of the Journal. Source: Journal of the Association for the Preservation of the Memorials of the Dead in Ireland Vol IX. (FHL # 1279285)
