Lady's Island.

This island, in an inlet of the sea in South County Wexford, 
is joined to the mainland by a togher or causeway, guarded 
by a now leaning tower at the island end of it, behind which 
is a square castle, and behind that again the churchyard 
dedicated to the

On a flat slab, much sunk in the ground, the inscription on 
which faces the west:-

+ I H S Here Lieth the Body of The Revd Andrew Mc Cormack 
Depd 31st May 1781 Aged 58 years May the Lord have mercy on 
his Soul. Amen The World is A jest, as all things Shew it; I 
thought so once, But Now I know it.

The peculiar verse in this inscription also appears on the 
Cony table tomb in the Rathduff Churchyard, Co. Westmeath, 
given in this number of the Journal.
