A Memorial
of an Indenture of Lease
bearing date the third day of May one thousand seven hundred
and fifteen made between Robert Curtlyce of the city of
Dublin Chyrurgeon on the one part and John Dowling of
Catherlough in the county of Catherlough, Merchant of the
other part reciting that John Curtis late of Rosscrea in the
county of Tipperary Esquire did demise unto the said John
Dowling all that and those the houses, gardens and crofts in
the possession of the said John Dowling with the house and
garden late in the possession of Patrick Kealy and also a
small strip of ground joining to the River Barrow commonly
called Aylebegg is as ample manner as the premises were held
by the said John Dowling all situate in and near Burren
street in the Town of Catherlogh in the county of Catherlogh
for and during the natural life of Edward Reynolds son of
Edward Reynolds late of Catherlogh aforesaid Esquire
deceased and renewable forever and reciting the said Edward
Reynolds is dead by which said Indenture of Lease the said
Robert Curtis hath demised and set unto the said John
Dowling all that and those the houses, gardens crofts and
strip of land above mentioned with the appurtenances to them
belonging in as ample and beneficial manner as they were
then held and enjoyed by the said John Dowling and his
undertenants to hold unto the said John Dowling his heirs
and assigns during the natural life of the said John Dowling
the Lessee at and under the yearly rent of Five pounds
sixteen shillings sterling and six pence in the pound
Receivers fees. Which said Lease is witness by Edmund
Purlewent son to Thomas Purlewent of Catherlogh aforesaid
Gentlemen. William Bettson now of the city of Dublin Peruke

of Deed Indented bearing
date the twenty ninth day of August one thousand seven
hundred and eighteen made between John
Carroll of the town
of Catherlogh Gent of the one part and Margaret DOWLING of
the same – Spinster of the or the part reciting a Lease
dated the twenty firth day of March one thousand seven
hundred and fourteen made by Edmond Carroll Merchant
deceased to the said Margaret DOWLING of all that and those
the dwelling house out house and backside then held by
Richard Lepon and now held by the said Margaret DOWLING
situate in Castle Street in the said town of Catherlogh
bounded on the east by Sam Bells house and plot on the south
by said Castle Street on the west by Peter Budde house and
plot and part of the said Edmund Carrolls plot and on the
north by part of James
DOWLINGS Garden wall with the appurtenances thereunto
belonging for the lives of the said Edmund Carroll John
Carroll his son and James Moore son of Thomas Moore late of
Catherlogh Maltster and the life of the longest live of them
with a covenant of Renewal and Reciting that the said Edmond
Carroll is dead by which said deed the said John Carroll son
and heir to the said Edmond Carroll pursuant to the said
covenant of Renewal did demise unto the said Margaret
Dowling all and singular the said premises by the said
recited lease demise with their appurtenances in as large
and beneficial manner as the same saw then held and enjoyed
by the said Margaret Dowling for and during the natural
lives of the said John Carroll James Moore and James Bulgar
son of David Bulgar of Quinagh in the county of Catherlogh
deceased aged about sixteen year and the life of the longest
liver of them and renewable forever as thein is mentioned at
the rent of four pound -- one year rent fine for renewal
with said deed is witnessed by Patrick Keating then of the
town of Catherlogh Gent and Edward Lalor Gent and John
DOOLING Merchant both of Catherlogh aforesaid and this
memorial is witness by the said John DOOLING and John
