I John Nowlan do swear that I usually reside at Roslee in the parish of Myshall in the Barony of Forth and that I support myself by my trade as a Tailor and will Prosecute Michael Clowry for an assault.

So help me God. (signed) John Nowlan.

Taken and acknowledged before me this 13th day of May 1825.

Thomas Date maketh Oath and Saith he usually resides at Knockenane in the Parish of Fennagh, Carlow and that he supports himself by Farming to prosecute Charles Nowlan for riot and assault. (signed) Thomas Date. Sworn before me this 11th day of November 1826, (signed) Robert Cornwall.   New wording for Recognizances 1826   Thomas Date acknowledges himself to be indebted to his Majesty King George the fourth his heirs and successors in the sum of Ten pounds Sterling lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to be paid to his said Majesty his heirs and successors should Thomas Date fail to appear in his proper person to prosecute Charles Nowlan in open court at Carlow. 1826.

Note added 2012. Patrick Hughes is charged with assault of Patrick Nowlan. No year is given but we can surmise that it is 1830.

Patrick Nowlan did not attend the Court [No Attendance] so the case was dismissed [No Bill] by the Jury [self and fellows] signed by the Jury foreman.

The Jurors of our Lord the King upon their oath, present that, Patrick Hughes of Ballanbrannagh in the County of Carlow, yeoman on the first of April in the tenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Fourth, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and soforth, at Crossneen in the County of Carlow, in and upon one Patrick Nowlan a true a faithful subject of our said Lord the King, in the peace of God, and of our said Lord the King,

then and there being, did make an assault and Patrick Nowlan then and there did beat, wound, and ill treat, so that his life was greatly despaired of, and other wrongs to the said Patrick Nowlan and against the peace of our said Lord the King, his crown and dignity.

No Attendance, No Bill for self and fellows,

I Michael Clowery do swear that I am a householder and have a house wherein I usually reside at Celema Glush in the townland of Kilmagulsh, Parish of Myshall and I am worth the sum of 10 pounds Sterling over all my just debts.~~

So help me God

I James Minchion do swear that I am a house holder in Ballynocken, Parish of Fenagh and I am worth the sum of 10 pounds Sterling. ~~

Michael, David and Johanna will attend the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held at Tullow to answer charges brought by George Nolan.
