Pleas of the Crown at a General Assizes and General Gaol
Delivery held at Carlow in and for the said County of Carlow on
Monday the 26th Day of March 1798 and in the 38th year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God King upon Information taken by
Benjamin Bunbury, Esquire, that John Currin, Oliver Carey,
Christopher Beaghan, Patrick Hore, John Howlet, James Muldoon
for they being evil disposed persons and disturbers of the peace and Not being Qualifyed ?
Same day and
year at Garristown contemptuously maliciously and feloniousy did
Administer an Unlawful Oath and Solemn Engagement upon a Book to
Mathew Brennan of the import following that is to say "Damnation
to the King and All the Royal Family and all his heirs and
forces by Sea and Land " and that he should be United with them
-meaning said John Currin and said others - they not being ?
against peace.
And for that they being wicked and evil disposed persons on 11th
March in 38th year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George
the third King did at Mount Neal Wickedly Unlawfully Maliciously
and feloniousy did Compere Confederate and agree together and to
and with each other and to ? Certain others Willfully feloniousy
of Malice pre ? to Kill and Murder Luke Lyons against the peace.
Guilty judgment given to be hanged by the
neck till dead
Execution to be done on Monday the fifth day
of April next. 1798.
