Description Assignment made between Richard Meredyth, Shrowland, county Kildare, esquire, of one part, and Samuel Burton, Burton hall, county Catherlough (Carlow), esquire, the Honourable [Colonel] Joshua Paul, city of Dublin, esquire, the Honourable Colonel Robert Burton, Branaghstowne, county Kildare, esquire, and John Stratford, Baltinglass, county Wicklow, esquire, of the other part. In consideration of sum of 10 shillings, Meredyth gives to Samuel Burton, Paul, Robert Burton and Stratford the sum of £1,000 sterling. This money was vested in Meredyth by a deed of release dated 2 March 1730. The use to be made of this money is outlined in articles of agreement dated 13 September 1731 made between Charles Burton, city of Dublin, merchant, of the first part, the said Meredyth and Margaret Meredyth, spinster, Meredyth's daughter, of the second part, and the said Samuel Burton, Paul, Robert Burton and Stratford, of the third part. The sum of £1,000 is part of Margaret Meredyth's marriage portion, on her marriage to Charles Burton. It is noted that this deed was registered at the Register Office, city of Dublin, on 13 October 1731 in book 67, page 463, number 46788.

Description Copy of document number P1/0062. Appended is note which states, 'This Lease and Counterpart being in possession of Sir Charles Burton it is presumed that same was surrendered and that the premises were demised to Fra[nci]s Wilkinson in 1759 whose Interest became vested in Dr Haly & Revd James Maher [refers to Francis Haly, Roman Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, 1838-1855 and Reverend James Maher, parish priest of Carlow-Graigue, died 1874] who obtained a fee farm grant in May 1858.' It is noted on verso that this deed was registered at the Register Office, Dublin, on 22 November 1732 in book 71, page 134, number 49524. Endorsement on verso is a renewal of the lease (16 November 1754) made between Sir Charles Burton, city of Dublin, and William Dale, Carlow, county Carlow, apothecary, son of William Dale.

Bounded by the river Burrin on the east, with fields occupied by Samuel Leyborn on the south, with the high road from Bridwill (Bridewell) Ford to Ballycarny (Ballycarney) on the west, and by Hanover Lands on the north. Contains 11 acres and 30 perches plantation measure. Lease to run for three named lives and for the lives of persons who may be added thereafter. Annual rent of £22.7.6 sterling.

Description Bargain and sale made between Francis Ryan, Castle Burton, county Catherlogh (Carlow) gentleman, and James Doyle, Dublin, stay maker. In consideration of sum of 5 shillings sterling paid by Doyle to Ryan, transferred are part of the lads of Carlow commonly called Rathnepish (Rathnapish), formerly in the possession of John McCabe, Richard Pendergrass and James Aughney containing 65 acres plantation measure. Bounded on the east by the lands of Little Pollardstown (Pollerton), on the south by the lands formerly called Feltham's lands, on the west by Dublin road, and on the north by Painstown. Term of bargain and sale is one year and Doyle to pay one peppercorn to Ryan if it is demanded. It is noted that the deed was registered at the Register Office, city of Dublin, on 13 July 1736 in book 83, page 307, number 58998.

Description Counterpart deed of release made between Benjamin Burton, Burton hall, county Catherlogh (Carlow), esquire, of one part, and Charles Burton, city of Dublin, merchant, of the other part. Recites deeds of lease and release made on 9 January 1734 and 10 January 1734 respectively. The release was quadripartite and was made between the said Benjamin Burton, of the first part, the Honourable Francis Burton, Buncraggy, county Clare, esquire, and Henry Brooke, one of the Masters of the High Court of Chancery in Ireland, of the third part, and Brabazon, 2nd Viscount Duncannon, and the Honourable Anne Ponsonby, daughter of Viscount Duncannon, of the fourth part. Relates to the lands of Baggotstown, barony of Small County, county Limerick, containing 727 acres plantation measure. It is recited that Benjamin Burton is permitted to raise monies by mortgage of these lands. Under the current indenture, Benjamin Burton releases the lands to Charles Burton forever but there is a clause for redemption, whereby the lands are returned to Benjamin Burton on payment of £1,800.

Bounded on the south by the road from Carlow to Pollardstown. In consideration of sum of £30, Sommers now agrees to sell his interest to Cusack. Conveyed are lands, houses, house plots, gardens and fields formerly held by Owen Feltham or Benjamin Burton or Samuel Burton or their undertenants containing 254 acres and lying in the barony of Catherlogh (Carlow), county Carlow. This property was ordered to be sold by the trustees for relief of creditors of Burton's bank. Conveyed in consideration of purchase money of £4,950. It is noted that this deed was registered at the Register Office, Dublin, in book 90, page 509, number 65939.

Recites details of indenture dated 26 September 1712 whereby Henry, 8th Earl of Thomond, of one part, transferred to Digby Berkeley, Ardristin (Ardristan), county Catherlogh (Carlow), esquire, of the other part, the towns and lands of Killinora, Aghade, the moiety of Halsandal, Ardneline, Ballyvorgille and Rahinstonn, all in the manor and county of Carlow. To be held by Berkeley forever at annual fee farm rent of £60 sterling. Also recites details of deeds of lease and release dated 20 September 1723 and 21 September 1723 made between Henry Berkeley, Ardristin, esquire, son and heir of Digby Berkeley, of one part, and Benjamin Burton, Burton hall, county Carlow, esquire, of the other part, whereby Berkeley transferred to Burton the lands of Rahinstown (Rainstown) (being part of the premises demised by indenture described above) containing 300 acres. To be held by Burton forever. Berkeley also covenanted with Burton that the other lands described above should remain in Burton's possession as security for payment of the fee farm rent of £60 payable to Henry, Earl of Thomond, and to indemnify the lands of Rahinstowne. Also recites deeds of lease and release of 20 September 1723 and 21 September 1723 whereby Berkeley confirmed the other lands to Burton forever.

Recites lease dated 13 July 1713 made between Benjamin Burton, city of Dublin, alderman, deceased, and the said John Browne, in respect of three holdings in Carlow containing 1 acre, 3 roods and 36 perches (1) Mr Browne's orchard and the clerk's garden and Donoghoe's holding containing 1 acre. Bounded on the north by Back lane (2) Matthew Canon's holding bounded on the east by Tullow street and on the south by Back lane. To be held for named lives renewable forever at annual rent of £8 sterling. Mentioned that this property was seized by trustees appointed for relief of creditors of Burton's bank. The trustees later sold these lands to Robert Burton. Burton now grants a renewal to William Browne.

Also, that Doyle transfers to Burton a judgement obtained by him (Doyle) in the Court of Common Pleas against Ryan. Terms and conditions of repayment to Burton outlined. It is noted that this deed was registered at the Register Office, city of Dublin, on 6 April 1741 in book 102, page 331, number 71005.

Recites that Benjamin Burton, Burton hall, county Catherlogh (Carlow), esquire, executed a bond dated 28 February 1734 to Charles Burton of the penalty of £1,730 conditioned for payment of the sum of £865.1.0 sterling on 28 August 1734. Charles Burton obtained a judgement against Benjamin Burton for the sum of £1,730. In consideration of sum of £600 now paid by [Moncal] to Burton, he assigns the bond to Moncal.

Lease to run for 10½ years at annual rent of 30 shillings sterling. Ryan recently conveyed his interest in the lands to Burton. Now, in consideration of surrender to Charles Burton of a lease for lives renewable forever made on 6 November 1739 made by Ryan to Robert Tench, Burton leases to John Tench lands at Rathnapish described above. Lease to run for three named lives at annual rent of £1.10.0 sterling until 1749 and thereafter annual rent of £3 sterling. Noted that this deed was registered at the Register Office, city of Dublin, on 7 March 1742 in book 109, page 313, number 6028.

Endorsement on verso states that for the term of the lease, Cooke has the right to pass with horses and other conveyances to and from his stable along the road or lane leading from the street to Roney's house.

To be held for three named lives renewable forever. Interest in the lease is now vested in Robert Burton and Samuel Budds, and Burton now renews the lease in favour of Budds.

To be held by Bewley and Barcroft for one year. One peppercorn to be paid by them to Burton, if demanded. Noted that this deed was registered at the Register Office, city of Dublin, on 17 June 1743 in book 108, page 403, number 76782.

It is noted that this deed was registered at the Register Office, city of Dublin, on 17 June 1743 in book 10[8], page 403, number 6782.
