The number of strangers from the earlier lists, are fewer and fewer. The
pattern I am skirting about should be coming clearer now, and when the
next list is adverted to it should be quite clear. It is a list of the
Yeomanry corps raised by government in 1796 to meet the threat; as they
saw it of the
United Irishmen. The Carlow units were as follows - insofar as I can
establish them:38
