Answering Recognizance.

From Pat Purcell Papers.

Names: Lawlor & Brennan 1826

County Carlow to wit. I Terence Lawlor do swear that I usually reside at Slatey Townland of Slatey in the Parish of Killeshin, Barony of Slievmarraga and Queens County.

I Patrick Brennan do swear that I am a Householder and have a house wherein I usually reside at Graigue in the Parish of Killeshin, Barony of Slievmarraga and Queens County. And I am worth the sum of Five Pounds over and above all my Depts.

(Signed) Patrick his X mark Brennan.

I Michl Brennan do swear that I am a Householder and have a house wherein I usually reside at Graigue in the Parish of Killeshin, Barony of Slievmarraga and Queens County. And I am worth the sum of Five Pounds over and above all my Depts.

(Signed) Michl his X mark Brennan.

Sworn respectively before me at Carlow in the said County, the 25th day of May 1826

Be it remembered that the above named Terence Lawlor, Patrick Brennan and Michl Brennan and every of them came before me and acknowledged themselves to be in debted to our Sovereign Lord the King in the Sums to their names respectively annexed, that is to say,

The Said…Terence Lawlor,,,,in the Sum of …Ten…..Pounds Sterl.
The Said…Patrick Brennan,,,,,in the Sum of …Five….Pounds Sterl.
The Said…Michl Brennan,,,,,,,,in the Sum of …Five….Pounds Sterl.

The condition of the foregoing Recognizance is such that if the above bounden ………….

Shall be and appear in his proper Person in open Court at the next Sitting of the general Quarter Sessions to be held at Carlow in and for said County, and do attend the Court from day to day during the said Sessions – and from Sessions to Sessions to be held for said County, until discharged by the court, and answer all such Matters and Things as shall be objected against him on behalf of our said Lord the King by …………….

Then the foregoing Recognizance to be Void; other wise to remain in full Force and Virtue in Law.

Taken and Acknowledged before me the Day and Year aforesaid
