J.J. Brophy, 72, Dies Following Long Illness
NEW LEBANON, N.Y. - James Joseph Brophy, 72, a resident of New Lebanon
for five years, died yesterday morning at his home following a long
illness. Mr.Brophy, a native of County Carlow, Ireland, resided in Mount
Vernon before coming to this town. He was retired from the Westchester
division of the Third Avenue Railroad, New York.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Brophy; four sons, Lieut. James J.
Brophy, Jr., of Mount Vernon, just returned from two years' service in
the European theatre with the Maritime Commission; Cpl. Thomas E.
Brophy, of White Plains, a member of the Fifth Air Force, who flew here
from Japan on a Red Cross emergency furlough after 27 months' overseas
duty; John G. Brophy of Mount Vernon and Frank O. Brophy, both
undefeated amateur lightweight boxing champions of Westchester County; a
daughter Mrs. Anne DeMent of Bronxville; and three grandsons.
Funeral services will be from the home at 9 tomorrow morning followed at
9:30 with a high mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with
Rev.Francis B. Schatzlein officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic
Cemetery, New Lebanon Center. The Avery Hall Funeral Home of Stephentown
is in charge.

James Murphy, 68, Dies in Bridgeport
- LEE - James F. Murphy, 68, a former resident of this town for
several years, died at the home of his daughter in Bridgeport, Conn.,
yesterday. Mr. Murphy was born in Bagenalstown, County Carlow, Ireland,
and came to this country to live in Lee in 1908. During the time he
lived here, he was employed at the Lee Marble Works. In 1915, he left
Lee to make his home in
Bridgeport.
Married to the late Mary A. Kilboy of Lee, Mr. Murphy is survived by one
son, James R. Murphy of Bridgeport; three daughters, Mrs. Martin Connors
of Summer Street, Mrs. George Bartram of Bridgeport, with whom he made
his home, and Mrs. Gertrude Palmer of Bridgeport; one brother, William
Murphy of Bagenalstown, Ireland; and five grandchildren, all of
Bridgeport.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 9 in St. Charles'
Church, Bridgeport. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery there.

- Mrs. Martin J. Connors
- LEE - Mrs. Margaret M. Connors, 66, wife of Martin J. Connors, 150
Summer St., died last nght at her home after a long illness. She was
born in County Carlow, Ireland, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Murphy
and spent most of her life here. She was a communicant of St. Mary's
Church. Besides her husband, Mrs. Connors leaves three daughters, the
Misses
Margaret E. and Teresa E. Connors, both of Lee, and Mrs. Lawrence Kelly
of Amherst; a brother, William P. Murphy of Ireland, and three
grandsons.
The body rests at the Kelly Funeral Home and will be taken to the
Connors residence late this afternoon. Funeral services will be held
Saturday morning at 8:30 from the family home and at 9 at St. Mary's
Church where a High Mass of Requiem will be celebrated. Burial will be
in St. Mary's Cemetery.
